Public offices will be closed on February 16th and 18th, 2026, for Carnival. The closure falls in the middle of Carnival, which runs from Saturday, February 14th to Tuesday, February 17th. According to a decree, public servants must work an additional hour after their normal closing time on specific dates to compensate for the days off. This decree, No. 3, signed and promulgated this Monday, applies to all national and municipal public entities. However, essential services will continue to operate. These include the Panama Metro, Immigration, Transit, Tocumen International Airport, Customs, and other entities linked to basic services, ports, and airports. Hospitals, clinics, polyclinics, IDAN (National Water and Sewerage Institute), security, and emergency services will also remain open.
