National Police Director Jaime Fernández met with authorities in Colón province to discuss combating violence and strengthening security measures. During 'Operation Odyssey,' 89 people were arrested and 13 firearms were seized.


Meeting in Colón Province to Strengthen Security Strategies

In order to strengthen security strategies in terms of operational capacity and prevention in the province of Colón, Jaime Fernández, director of the National Police, met with authorities from the Atlantic region to discuss the fight against violence in this part of the country. The meeting was attended by the main directors of the different security units and the governor. During the meeting, authorities informed that operations will continue throughout the week with inter-institutional support, including the National Aeronaval Service (Senan), as part of a comprehensive effort to restore tranquility to the people of Colón. Hermógenes Argüelles, head of the National Police in Colón, took the opportunity to report the results of the "Operation Odyssey". Detailing that 110 investigations and raids were carried out, the capture of 89 people with arrest warrants, the recovery of 13 firearms, and the transfer of 14 detainees to the Nueva Esperanza penitentiary center. He added that police presence was reinforced on beaches, recreational areas, and at events, as part of preventive actions to protect citizens.
