The process includes the participation of various sectors linked to education, with the aim of reaching agreements on key issues such as system governance, educational quality, teacher evaluation, higher education, and other points that will shape the future of education in Panama. Members of Parliament and the Education Ministry have begun discussions on a new law. The Ministry of Education held a meeting with the National Assembly’s Education, Culture, and Sports Committee as part of the process to draft the new Organic Law of Education. From the Assembly, Deputy Jorge Bloise, president of the commission, made it clear that the path forward will be dialogue. He stated that this process is based on listening and consensus, and acknowledged that discussing this law represents one of the biggest challenges the country has faced in recent decades in education. The discussion about the country’s education system is beginning to take shape. She stated that the goal is to provide the education system with a law that directly benefits students. During the meeting, she emphasized the importance of maintaining harmonious collaboration between the parties so that the result is a functional and modern regulation. The consultations will not be confined to a single table.
