A total of 21 citizens have formalized their candidacy for the position of Deputy Comptroller General of the Republic for the 2025-2030 period, following the resignation of Eli Felipe Cabezas, which occurred last year. With the opening of the process, the Credentials Commission of the National Assembly must verify the documentation submitted by the applicants and send to the plenary the list of those who meet the constitutional requirements, in accordance with Article 161 of the Political Constitution.
Selection Process in the National Assembly On January 12, the plenary session of the National Assembly approved the resolution that officially opened the call and application process to fill the vacancy at the Comptroller General of the Republic. According to legislative procedure, deputies must propose a candidate from the official list submitted by the General Secretariat, and the election of the Deputy Comptroller will be held by nominal vote, as established in Articles 211 and 212 of the Organic Rules of the National Assembly.
Candidates for the position Among the names listed are Manuel de Jesús Morales Salazar, Joel Enrique Caballero Olmos, René Díaz Martínez, Adolfo Antonio Mela González, César Augusto Contreras Fajardo, Erika Yanori Flores, Arturo Amado Pérez Pitti, and Omar Gómez Mercado, among other candidates participating in the process.
