So far this month, the National Police have carried out more than 49 operations against micro-trafficking, apprehending 14 individuals who have been handed over to the competent authorities. The discovery of this illegal arsenal highlights the latent risk these types of activities pose to public safety and reinforces police surveillance in the region. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the weapons and whether they are linked to other criminal acts. As part of the 'Firmness Plan', led by the Police Intelligence Directorate, National Police units, in coordination with the Public Ministry, discovered a true arsenal inside a residence in the Monagrillo district. A 67-year-old citizen was apprehended who was in possession of more than 23 firearms without legal permits. During the raid, authorities found at least four short-barreled weapons, three pistols, and a .357 caliber revolver, as well as high-power accessories such as silencers and telescopic sights, all stored inside the residence of the apprehended individual without documentation to support their ownership. "This was an intelligence operation developed on the ground that allowed us to locate this residence and proceed with the search," explained Osorio. The subcommissioner confirmed that only one adult was apprehended during the operation, ruling out further arrests directly linked to the case for the time being. Authorities emphasized that this seizure is part of a sustained offensive against crime in the province.
