The president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, congratulated this Sunday the elected president of Costa Rica, Laura Fernández, on her electoral victory and invited her to continue working together on projects that benefit both countries. Her main rival, Álvaro Ramos, from the National Liberation Party, achieved 32.12%. The new head of state, who was Minister of the Presidency and Planning of the outgoing government, has positioned herself as the heir to Rodrigo Chaves, with whom Mulino maintains a close relationship. "I wish you success in your management and I invite you to continue collaborating in a more integrated way," Mulino wrote on his X account. Fernández, 39, became the elected president after obtaining a resounding 49.61% of the vote in the first round, far surpassing the 40% needed to win without a runoff. "I congratulate @laurapresi2026 on her victory."
