Panama has achieved a significant success in the fight against drug trafficking. In the first month of 2026, the Panamanian Navy, in cooperation with the National Police and the Senafront, seized over 11 thousand tons of narcotic substances. The total weight of the confiscated drugs amounted to 11,387 tons, including 1,924 tons of cocaine, 5,856 tons of marijuana, and 3,607 tons of substances to be identified. During the operations, 6 people were arrested, and 5 vessels and 1 vehicle were confiscated. Compared to January 2025, when 7,568 tons were seized, there was an increase of 3,819 tons. The operations were carried out in key points of the country known as drug trafficking routes, such as Playa Bongo, Santa Isabel, Turtle Cay, and Miramar. These successes demonstrate the strengthening of interdiction and surveillance strategies in the country.
