New Blow to Drug Trafficking in Panama

Panama seizes 811 drug packages destined for India. One of the largest anti-drug operations in the country.

A new blow to drug trafficking was recorded this Monday in Panama, when the Public Ministry (MP) announced the seizure of 811 drug packages at a Pacific port terminal. According to authorities, the cargo's final destination was India. The stash was discovered by agents of the National Police (PN) and anti-drug prosecution personnel inside a container. Each package weighed at least one kilo, and although the official information does not detail the exact type, cocaine is the most seized illicit substance in the country. This operation adds to other recent ones, such as the seizure of 3,029 drug packages in the Panamanian Caribbean last Sunday and the discovery of 5,356 drug packages on a vessel in Las Perlas on January 17. According to MP statistics, Panama seized 129 tons of drugs and 47.8 tons of chemical precursors during 2025.
