Justice arrived almost two years later. On January 14 and 15, 2026, during the oral trial, the Darién Trial Court heard everything. A decision to close the door to more violence.
It was early morning in Puerto Indio, in Sambú, when the silence was broken by blows. Two men attacked a 47-year-old man. Machete and stick in hand. He was left lying on the ground, bathed in blood. That attack occurred in the early hours of May 3, 2024.
He saw the evidence. In the end, there were no doubts: the accused was unanimously declared guilty: 20 years in prison for the crime of attempted homicide. In the reading of the sentence, the court not only imposed the main penalty. It also ordered a clear accessory penalty: prohibition of carrying weapons, for the same time as the sentence, once served.
The blows were so many and so strong that they almost killed him.
