The Council of Ministers approved Resolution No. 1-26, authorizing the National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG) to sign an addendum to extend the fixed-line telephone contract in state entities. This extension period will allow for the corresponding public tender, ensuring adequate timescales for implementation and promoting the participation of telecommunications operators in the provision of fixed-line voice services. It will grant AIG the necessary time to manage a new tender process, ensuring the continuity of the service and the improvement of its technical functionalities. The fixed-line telephone service is provided nationwide at over 7,000 points, covering more than 89,611 users in public entities, dependencies, and local governments. This extension, for a period of 24 months, guarantees the continuity of a service considered critical for the state's operations and citizen attention. Among these services, the operation of social interest lines is maintained, such as 103 (Fire Department), 104 (Police), 311 (Citizen Attention), and 911 (SUME). The resolution states that AIG evaluated the need for a new contract, considering the required deadlines, that the operator made a significant investment, and other time parameters, for which it considered extending the validity of the current contract. The extension is stipulated from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027.
