The National Network for the Support of Childhood and Adolescence of Panama expressed its concern over public information and ongoing investigations by the Public Prosecutor's Office related to the possible commission of crimes against minors under the care of institutions. They also called on organized civil society, communities, families, and the general public to remain alert, proactive, and vigilant, demanding compliance with the State's obligations and promoting protective environments. At the same time, REDNANIAP reiterated its willingness to contribute from its role in social articulation to strengthening a real and effective guarantee system. They added: 'Our reason for being is to actively contribute to the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents, especially those in greater vulnerability and under the responsibility of the State.' Additionally, they called for the director of the protection department of said institution to be removed from her post during the investigations. They reiterated that protecting childhood is a shared responsibility, and for this reason, they called on people to report any suspicion or indication of rights violation through official channels, avoiding the dissemination of information that could expose the NNA institution or affect any ongoing process. 'In the face of facts of such gravity, REDNANIAP cannot and must not remain on the sidelines,' the organization stated in a press release.
