The President of the National Assembly, Jorge Herrera, called for institutional unity and emphasized that this is not the time for protagonism or distractions, but to act with responsibility, transparency, and measurable results. Herrera launched a strong message to critics of the Legislative Branch and asked to leave behind the 'political box office' to focus on institutional work and offer concrete answers to citizens. The Vamos por Herrera bench recalled that its support was based on a series of principles it expects to be fulfilled to regain the trust of Panamanians in the institution. 'The country needs institutions that work with seriousness, transparency, and commitment,' Prado noted. With this action, Herrera stated, the Legislative Branch reaffirms its commitment to transparency, institutionalism, and respect for the rule of law, sending a clear message that public administration must be measured by facts and not by speeches. 'This is not a time for distractions or protagonism; it is a time for responsibility and results,' he emphasized. 'Less political spectacle and more work in favor of the country,' the parliamentary president reiterated. 'The money that is handled is not ours, it is the people's and they need explanations,' he reiterated. In response, independent deputy Janine Prado pointed out that demanding accountability is not synonymous with fighting, as her goal is not that, but that citizens' resources are used properly. She highlighted that the National Assembly is focused on fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities and announced the formal submission of the accountability report to the Comptroller General's Office, the entity in charge of auditing the management of public resources. The deputy urged her colleagues to work together for the country to do well. 'We did not come to this plenary session to win a popularity contest, we came to do what is right even if it bothers some,' she stressed.
