In the midst of the hustle and bustle of carnival parties and beach festivities, the sea off Cambutal in the Los Santos province was the scene of a major blow to drug trafficking: 1,702 packages of alleged drugs were seized this Saturday during Carnival. The operation was carried out by the Prosecutor's Office for Drugs of the Public Ministry in conjunction with units of the National Aeronaval Service (Senan), which intercepted the cargo distributed in 43 bales in the Pacific waters. Two Colombian citizens were apprehended and in the coming hours will be placed at the disposal of the accusatory criminal system, where they will face a hearing for guarantees control, charge imputation, and the definition of precautionary measures. In addition to the cargo that preliminarily exceeds a ton, a firearm was seized, which confirms that this was not exactly a recreational maritime excursion. While the country celebrates, drug traffickers try to sneak their material in among the distraction, but the authorities gave them no respite.
