Tired of waiting for the repair of the only bridge that connects them with other neighboring communities, residents of El Bijao and El Rascador, in the province of Los Santos, remain in this situation. The inhabitants request the prompt intervention of the authorities due to the difficult situation they face. Residents of the area demand the repair of a bridge that collapsed approximately six months ago, after during the last rainy season heavy equipment used this alternate route following the closure of the main road, causing structural damage that ended with the collapse of the infrastructure. Sector resident Eliecer Castro explained that since then the community has faced serious difficulties in moving around, as the structure was left completely disabled, leaving this rural area practically isolated. Castro highlighted that it is a highly productive area, dedicated mainly to livestock and the production of products such as milk, corn, and other crops, so the lack of vehicular access is directly affecting the transport of production and the economic development of these communities. To this situation is added that students and workers must walk several kilometers to be able to leave the area, since the bridge remains completely disabled and represents a risk even for those who try to cross it on foot. The residents, gathered this Tuesday in the area where there was once a bridge, also indicated that although there is knowledge of the problem by local authorities, the community continues to wait for a concrete solution, especially before the arrival of the next rainy season. Finally, they made an urgent call to the Ministry of Public Works and the Santan authorities to address this problem, remembering that this route is fundamental for the mobility of residents and for the agricultural and livestock activity that sustains these rural communities.
