Naval units managed to seize 536 packages of alleged drug, as well as apprehend three people traveling in a artisanal boat, during an operation carried out south of Punta Burica, in the province of Chiriquí. According to the official report, the naval aviation detected a suspicious vessel while carrying out patrols in the area. Upon approaching for a security inspection, the agents noted alterations in the structure of the boat, specifically a double bottom, where the illicit substance was allegedly hidden. After the find, the vessel and its crew were detained and transferred under the coordination of the Chiriquí Drug Prosecutor's Office to the Quebrada de Piedra Naval Air Station, where the corresponding procedures and the count of the drug were carried out. The authorities informed that so far this year, the Naval Aviation has seized 18.9 tons of illicit substances in 18 operations, as part of the patrols and actions to curb drug trafficking in the country.
