The full Assembly ratified Lilibeth Antonia Cárdenas Chanis as the General Director of the National Secretariat for Childhood, Adolescence, and Family (SENNIAF), with support for a roadmap focused on restoring institutionalism and placing the best interests of the child at the center. Until now, the Vice Minister of Women, Cárdenas Chanis, arrives at the position with experience in the Public Ministry, where she worked on the instruction of cases of domestic violence and child abuse, areas directly linked to her new responsibilities. Before the Credentials Committee, the official made it clear that she bets on an 'urgent and real' transformation of the child protection system. Her proposal outlines concrete and measurable actions to strengthen the entity, regain citizen trust, and improve the quality of care for minors under state guardianship. The plan is structured around five axes: an assessment of institutional capacities—both human and financial; a national audit and census of shelters, with territorial control and digitization of information; the updating of the legal framework; the strengthening of human resources; and the promotion of transparency along with inter-institutional coordination.
