Panama: 'Jorgito' Apprehended for Homicide

Panama - After nearly seven and a half months of fleeing the National Police, known as 'Jorgito', wanted for the homicide of Roderick Alexis Santos González, 32, was apprehended this Thursday in sector #18 of Veranillo, corregimiento of Belisario Porras, district of San Miguelito.

During Operation Venator, units of the Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) and the National Police, after a search warrant, managed to locate him. In the end, no one showed up on the narrow streets, as no one wants to be associated with homicides or alleged criminals.

The murder of Santos González occurred around 4:00 PM on Monday, August 5, 2025. The preliminary investigation allowed them to locate 'Jorgito' hiding in a residence, where he was detained. Everything was recorded on a video from a surveillance system. Additionally, after the crime, it became known that Santos's mother informed the police that her son had been threatened on several occasions.

That day, the 32-year-old man was inside a commercial establishment in the La Pesa de Veranillo sector, in the company of his mother. Suddenly, a hooded individual, dressed in a red and white long-sleeved sweater, a black cap, jeans, and black and white sneakers, stuck his hand through a window of the establishment and shot him.

'These clues were key to the identification of the suspect, even though he tried to hide his face during the attack.' After being transferred to the nearest police station, 'Jorgito' will be remanded to the Public Ministry for the start of the judicial process against him.

For the suspect's transfer, it was necessary to walk a considerable distance along the sidewalks of sector 18 of Veranillo. A DIJ agent kept his right hand on his weapon, ready to draw it at any unforeseen event.
