An operation by the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) led to the seizure of 680 kilograms of cocaine, which were found inside a vessel in the vicinity of Punta Coco Island, in the Pearl Archipelago. The drugs were located when a Senan patrol vessel boarded a boat operated by two men, and several bags with drugs were found. The boat, heading towards the coast, was monitored by Senan due to suspicious movements, which is why it was inspected to determine its origin and the cargo it was carrying. The drugs and the apprehended individuals were handed over to the Drug Prosecutor's Office to begin investigations and determine the origin of the drugs and their final destination. So far this year, Senan has seized a total of 20.5 tons of drugs in 24 operations. Authorities are investigating local gangs dedicated to contaminating containers with drugs destined for European ports. Seizures in 2026 have been concentrated in areas such as Playa Bongo, on Isla del Rey, in the Pearl Archipelago; Santa Isabel, Turtle Cay, and Miramar, on the Upper Coast of Colón; as well as other areas of the central Caribbean and central Pacific. Several seizures of drugs in containers in transit through Pacific and Atlantic ports have also been achieved.
