Panama to Host OAS Regional Counter-Terrorism Meeting

Panama will host the Organization of American States (OAS) regional counter-terrorism meeting, to be held on April 8 and 9. According to the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the meeting will bring together the highest security authorities of the Member States with the aim of strengthening regional strategies against emerging threats. The Ministry highlighted that the central axis of the event will be the 'Prevention of the Financing of Terrorism and the Financing of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction'. Additionally, the agenda contemplates the growing complexity of detecting the movement of funds destined for terrorist activities. The entity noted that at the meeting, the country will present its advances in the protection of critical infrastructure, a fundamental pillar for ensuring economic stability and the security of global trade routes that cross the isthmus.
