President José Raúl Mulino convened extraordinary sessions, which will take place from December 6 to 31, in order to debate the modifications to the Organic Law of the Social Security Fund. This call aims to address issues of great importance for the country in the field of social security and the well-being of citizens.
In other news, the Customs Prevention and Inspection Directorate (DPFA) carried out a seizure during the early hours of today. 46 boxes containing coins known as Martinellis were seized, which are suspected to be counterfeit and originated from China. This discovery has raised concerns among customs authorities, as it evidences the presence of illegal products in the country, which could imply both economic and security dangers.
For its part, the DPFA has begun a thorough investigation to determine the magnitude of this illegal operation and to prevent such products from continuing to enter Panamanian territory. In this regard, the director of the DPFA stated: "It is essential to strengthen controls at the borders and work together with other entities to combat smuggling and the counterfeiting of products that may affect our economy and the safety of citizens."
