The Panama basketball team achieved a decisive victory over Paraguay by 94 to 68 at the Roberto Durán Arena, securing their spot in the FIBA AmeriCup 2025. In the first half, Paraguay excelled with long-distance shots, led by Sebastián Konrad.
In the second half, Panama adjusted their defense and opted for full-court pressure, changing the course of the game. The Panamanians took the lead with 6:46 minutes remaining, highlighted by the performance of Iverson Molinar, who scored 14 points in the first half.
At the end of the first half, Panama led by nine points. In the third quarter, the home team consolidated their victory with effective defense. Although Paraguay managed to cut the deficit to eight points at the end of the third quarter, Panama maintained control of the game.
In the final period, Panama sealed the victory against a Paraguay that only showed flashes of good play. Panama's standout players included Iverson Molinar with 24 points, Eric Romero with 20 points, and Jhivvan Jackson with 17 points. For Paraguay, Franco Benítez scored 13 points and Fernando Dose 12.
With this victory, Panama secured their participation in the FIBA AmeriCup 2025, which will take place in Managua, Nicaragua from August 23 to 31.
