Alianza F.C. secured the last ticket to the Clausura 2025 semi-finals of the Panamanian Football League (LPF) by defeating Club Deportivo Universitario 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation and extra time. With this victory, the Alianza team will face San Francisco F.C. in the semi-finals, who finished the regular round as the leader of the West Conference. When Alianza seemed to be in control of the game, a corner kick taken by José Matos in the 37th minute was capitalized on by Edwards, who with a precise header tied the score at 1-1. In the second half, both teams lowered the intensity and prioritized defensive order. The clearest chance came in the 68th minute with a shot from Uziel Maltez that went wide, and in the 74th Ambuila responded well to a header from Aldair McKenzie. With the score 1-1, the match went to extra time. In the 95th minute, Reyniel Perdomo put Alianza ahead 2-1 with a header, but five minutes later Edwards reappeared to level the score at 2-2 with a powerful cross-shot. The 2-2 score held until the end of extra time, forcing a decision from the penalty spot.
