Panama Wins First Gold Medal at Bolivarian Games 2025

At the Bolivarian Games 2025, wrestler Ángel Cortés brought Panama its first gold medal by winning in the 86 kg category. Athletes also won bronze in shooting and team events.


At the 2025 Ayacucho-Lima Bolivarian Games, the Panamanian team achieved significant success. Wrestler Ángel Cortés won the country's first gold medal in the 86 kg category, defeating Venezuelan Pedro Ceballos with a score of 7-5. Earlier, he also defeated the local athlete, Jesús Landa. In addition, Panamanian athletes Patricia González and Eduardo Taylor secured a bronze medal in shooting, defeating the Bolivian team. Thus, Panama's total medal count continues to grow: after the bronze medals won on Monday, the team added another bronze and a gold to their tally. In the match for third place (bronze medal), Panama also won with a score of 22-14, marking the country's fifth bronze medal at the Games.
