Panama Team Travels to US for World Cup Meetings

Panama's national team delegation travels to Washington D.C. for FIFA meetings and the 2026 World Cup draw to determine their opponents and select a tournament base.


For Panama, a team representing the national team will travel to the U.S. capital next Wednesday, December 3rd, to be present at the various meetings and seminars organized by FIFA, and to learn about their future in the competition. Panama's coach, Thomas Christiansen, will be at the 2026 World Cup draw, which will take place next week in Washington D.C., USA, according to a statement from the Panamanian Football Federation (FPF). After the schedule is published, an advance team from the national teams department will travel, accompanied by FIFA representatives, to various host cities with the aim of selecting a potential base camp for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. It is expected that by Saturday, December 6th, FIFA will officially announce the match schedule for the entire competition. In addition to coach Thomas Christiansen, the group will include Miguel Zúñiga, secretary general; Christian Núñez, director of national teams; Pedro Núñez, national teams manager; Ana Carolina Redondo, director of marketing, commercial and communications; John Dornheim, security officer; and Alexander Da Silva, communications manager of the Panamanian Football Federation (FPF). Currently, a total of 42 out of 48 teams have qualified, with the remaining 6 spots to be decided via playoffs in March 2026. Panama is already qualified as a CONCACAF representative and is awaiting the names of its rivals when the final draw takes place on Friday, December 5th, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., starting at 12:00 p.m. Panamanian time. This team, representing the FPF, will participate in a series of bilateral meetings in different functional areas of the organization on December 4th, 5th, and 6th.
