The team of journalists representing the digital newspaper Panorama Económico continues its dominant run in the I Softball Tournament of Professional Guilds, after securing two victories in a doubleheader this Saturday against the teams of Morgan & Morgan (lawyers) and Fusión.
Led by Cristóbal A. Chen, the journalists unleashed a strong offensive in the first game against Morgan & Morgan, scoring 14 runs to 4. Key players included catcher Lenín Ramos (3 for 2), Jefferson Araúz (3 for 2), Pastor Barsallo (3 for 1), and Didacio Camargo (2 for 1). Pitcher Efraín Castillo (2 for 2) delivered a stellar performance in both games.
In the second game, the journalists blanked Fusión with a 5-0 shutout, thanks to solid batting and strong defense from center fielder Jefferson Araúz, shortstop Alexis Jones, third baseman Aníbal González, left fielder Jean Piere Cheng, and veteran Aurelio Macías, who is proving to be an outstanding short fielder.
The journalists' team, having secured a top spot, has advanced to the playoffs (semi-finals). They will face the Doctors in the next round and are considered strong contenders to win the tournament, which is being held at the sports complex of the Comptroller General's Office.
