Renovated stadiums in Colón are projected to be delivered to the community in early 2026. Minister Orillac emphasized the significance of the reactivation of these projects, some of which had been paralyzed for seven years by two consecutive governments, and congratulated the companies and workers on the progress of the works.
Remodeling of the Roberto Mariano Bula Stadium (Baseball)
The work on the Roberto Mariano Bula stadium is being carried out by the company Administración de Proyectos de Construcción, S.A. (APROCOSA) and reports a current progress of 85%. The project, whose original order to proceed was issued in 2017, was left abandoned and subsequently relaunched by the current administration.
The total investment for the completion of the Mariano Bula amounts to $33.7 million, while the Armando Dely Valdés will undergo a remodel with synthetic turf and FIFA specifications for $5.2 million. The stadium is estimated to be ready in the first half of 2026.
This comprehensive remodeling includes: • A new playing field with synthetic turf and compliance with FIFA specifications. • Installation of a modern irrigation system. • Structural change of the roof and cover. • Waterproofing of the grandstands to accommodate 1,700 fans.
Currently, 40 people are working on the delivery of the Armando Dely Valdés.
New Specifications and Capacity
The new Mariano Bula will have all the specifications of Major League Baseball (MLB) and will offer a capacity for 5,000 fans. It will also feature parking for 102 vehicles. Among the modern facilities are commercial premises, batting cage, clubhouse, box, gym, conference room, two bedrooms with capacity for 32 players, press booths, laundry, infirmary, and locker rooms for athletes. The project currently generates 215 jobs, 98% of which are occupied by residents of Colón.
Progress on the Armando Dely Valdés Stadium (Football)
Minister Orillac also visited the remodeling works of the Armando Dely Valdés stadium, a project awarded to the company PROLOSA for a value of $5.2 million. The initial company ASINCRO was liquidated by mutual agreement and APROCOSA was hired to complete the construction.
