Carballeda dominates: Panama celebrates its new two-time GT Challenge champion

Panamanian driver David Carballeda wrote another golden page in regional motorsport by conquering the GTS Jr. category championship of the 2025 GT Challenge of the Americas. He reaffirmed his continental title and became a two-time champion of the most important racing series in Central America and the Caribbean. The experienced Chiriquí-based driver closed a flawless season at the helm of his legendary Mitsubishi Evo VI, with which he competed in the emblematic 'Three Hours of Costa Rica' race, the final stop on a calendar that saw him dominate from the start. From the first dates, Carballeda was synonymous with determination, dedication, and speed. In fact, he secured the two-time championship in the first two events of the championship thanks to a 'very fast and reliable' car that allowed him to create an insurmountable gap for his rivals. 'A lot of work; thank God, the result was achieved at the beginning of the year. The last two races were very bad, we deserved something better, but in general I feel very happy about the good year I had and proud to have raised the name of my country high,' expressed the champion. 'It is a great feat for a national driver on a stage of this magnitude. His early dominance even 'demotivated competitors to follow the rest of the calendar,' confessed. 'I didn't win this alone. For two consecutive years we have sustained it through work and sacrifice,' he added. He acknowledged that it was a demanding season in which consistency, focus, and discipline were key to defending his reign on the main stage of Latin American motorsport.
