A 33-year-old cyclist died in Panama after being involved in a traffic accident with a pickup truck. The incident occurred in the district of Alanje, in the Guarumal area, on the road leading to Querévalos and La Barqueta beach. Authorities reported that the accident happened at around 10:40 PM yesterday when a gray pickup truck and a bicycle collided. Firefighters and paramedics from the Unique System for Emergency Management responded to the scene, transporting Rodríguez to the 'Rafael Hernández' Regional Hospital in David, where his death was shortly thereafter confirmed. The 31-year-old driver of the pickup was taken into custody and is expected to appear before a Guarantees Court. Local residents have taken the opportunity to report that the road is dark and lacks sidewalks, forcing pedestrians and cyclists to travel along the shoulder of the road.
