Former MLB Player Highlights Panama's Strong Team for World Baseball Classic

Carlos Lee, Panama's coach, stated the team has the strongest roster in years. He noted that in the tournament, the team that wins isn't necessarily the one with stars, but the one that represents its country well, citing Japan as an example. Panama is in Group A in San Juan.

Former Major League Baseball player and Panama's coach for the World Baseball Classic, Carlos Lee, highlighted the group of players they have for this competition, which will begin on March 6.

«It's the most complete team we've had in many years, since they gave permission to most of the players,» said Lee, who played in this international tournament organized by Major League Baseball.

However, he noted that the competition is tough because all teams are reinforced with very good players.

He added that in this type of competition, the team that wins is not necessarily the one with the best stars.

«For me, the team that wins is the one that seeks to represent its country well. Sometimes, teams that go with many stars play against them,» said the former Major League player.

He cited the example of Japan, a country that has won several times even though on paper it is not the best team.

Panama is in Group A of the World Baseball Classic, which will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In this group, in addition to Panama and Puerto Rico, are the teams from Canada, Cuba, and Colombia.
