PSG took revenge for their defeat to Chelsea in last year's Club World Cup final. A three-goal lead (5-2) after the first leg left Luis Enrique's team firmly in the driver's seat for the quarter-finals. Chelsea had equalized twice, but an error by goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen, who gifted the ball on the edge of his area in the 74th minute, allowed Vitinha to fire a shot into the unguarded net. PSG substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored two more goals, leaving Chelsea with a mountain to climb back at Stamford Bridge.
