The head physician of the Panama national football team, Gerinaldo Martínez, told Teletica that central defender Fidel Escobar will not be called up for the friendly matches against Serbia on March 27 and 31. Escobar, who currently plays for Saprissa in Costa Rica, has not played this season as he underwent a lumbar spine infiltration procedure. "We don't have a date because we are measuring his medical and physical behavior. When we see that there is sufficient training volume that makes us think that we are not going to go backwards and that we are going to go forward, we will allow him to compete," he added. Martínez said he maintains contact with the club's doctors, especially with Esteban Campos of Saprissa. "The important thing for us is that he recovers in the best possible way and that he can participate with us in the World Cup," Martínez concluded.
