César Yanis Gets Last Chance for Panama World Cup Squad

Forward César Yanis will get a last chance to make the final Panama national football team roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as he has been called up again by coach Thomas Christiansen for the friendly matches against South Africa on March 27 and 31. "Since I arrived in Panama, Yanis has been a key player, always in the squad. He missed some qualifiers for one reason or another, but I think it's time for his return. He's playing for his team and doing well, so he deserves the opportunity," Christiansen stated at a press conference. Yanis, a 30-year-old who currently plays for Cobresal in Chile's first division, had not been part of Christiansen's recent call-ups, leading some experts to rule him out for the World Cup. Other news from Christiansen's squad includes the call-up to central defender Martín Krug and the return of Roderick Miller. The complete squad is as follows: Goalkeepers: Orlando Mosquera, Luis Mejía, and César Samudio. Defenders: César Blackman, Jorge Gutiérrez, Amir Murillo, Andrés Andrade, Martín Krug, José Córdoba, Eric Davis, Jiovany Ramos, and Roderick Miller. Midfielders: Aníbal Godoy, Adalberto Carrasquilla, Carlos Harvey, Cristian Martínez, José Luis Rodríguez, César Yanis, and Yoel Bárcenas. Forwards: Ismael Díaz, Cecilio Waterman, José Fajardo, and Kadir Barría.
