San Miguelito bets on leadership and empowerment through football. Through the Transformative Football School, children and young people in San Miguelito will have access to training, comprehensive health, and community leadership programs. The activity schedule includes over 200 sports training sessions, community meetings, and a soccer tournament focused on peaceful coexistence. Through these training processes, the initiative's promoters aim to promote values and environments that offer greater development opportunities for the residents of San Miguelito, consolidating spaces where peaceful coexistence is the priority.
This work seeks to guarantee an inclusive and safe environment for sports practice and neighborhood coexistence in the Omar Torrijos district. The program in San Miguelito stands out for addressing various dimensions of social well-being through the following axes of action:
• Sport for development: Soccer training with a socio-emotional approach. • Civic education: Workshops on human rights and life project construction. • Women's empowerment: Legal, psychological support, and training for income generation. • Comprehensive health: Sex education, violence prevention, and access to specialized health services.
Impact and planned activities The project not only benefits children and young people but also extends its impact to women, community leaders, and families, with the aim of strengthening the social fabric of the district. The initiative is driven by CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean- and the Football with Heart Foundation (FCC), in a strategic alliance with the San Miguelito Municipality and the support of organizations such as adidas, the Morgan Foundation, and APLAFA.
