FOX Latin America has announced the upcoming launch of the FOX channel in Central America, scheduled for May. The channel's new offering will combine local football from six countries with elite international events such as the Premier League and MLB. Carlos Martinez, EVP and Managing Director of FOX Latin America, highlighted the intention to provide a top-tier sports service that combines local identity and talent with the company's international rights portfolio. The portfolio for Central America includes highly relevant properties such as the Panamanian Football League, the Salvadoran Primera División, and exclusives in Costa Rica's Liga Promérica and Guatemala's Liga Bantrab. Tigo subscribers will maintain access to sports content, now under an enriched proposal that integrates FOX's global infrastructure. According to the organization, the operation includes a robust portfolio of local rights, production infrastructure, and access to recognized talent in the region, strengthening its operational and commercial capabilities in the territory. FOX's strategy involves the launch of four specific signals to cover the six mentioned countries. To this Central American football base will be added prestigious international competitions, including the Premier League and UEFA Europa League, the Bundesliga (from the 2026-27 season), the Saudi Pro League and Liga MX, and women's football from Mexico and Europe. In addition to football, the region's offering will exceed 800 live sporting events annually. This acquisition represents an extension of FOX's business model in the region, allowing programming to be available through conventional pay television, the free platform Tubi, and in later stages, via the FOX+ pay-per-view channel and the direct-to-consumer streaming service FOX One. As part of this restructuring, Martinez announced the appointment of Leandro Lagos to lead FOX's operations in Central America. The programming will cover disciplines such as MLB baseball, mixed martial arts with PFL, AAA lucha libre, and motorsports including the NASCAR Cup Series, Formula E, WRC, and WEC. This expansion is based on the acquisition of the local programming and production of the Tigo Sports channel in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. Collegiate sports from the Big Ten Conference will also be incorporated, consolidating a multiplatform offering.
