Panamanian athlete Lucas Ruiloba had a distinguished performance. Lucas, a member of the national karate team and Dojo Team Ramírez, conquered four gold medals at the USA Open Karate and the International Junior Cup in Texas, USA. These victories continue to elevate his level in this demanding sport. At the USA Open Karate, Lucas took home the gold in kata, kumite, and Team Kumite, while his fourth gold came at the International Junior Cup. Over 1500 athletes from the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Japan, Canada, Panama, and other nations participated in the tournaments. Currently, Lucas holds a black belt (1st Dan). He is ranked #1 in the National Ranking in Kumite, -35KG, 10-11 years advanced (brown and black belts), and #2 in Kata in his first year in the category. For Lucas, karate is more than a sport; he applies the teachings of discipline, honor, and respect from the dojo to his family, social, and school life. His next challenges are the Pan American Karate Championship, to be held in Costa Rica in August, and competing in a Karate Youth League in Europe. To achieve his goals, he maintains a rigorous daily plan of technical and physical training.
