Calle Abajo Tuna Breaks Agreement at Capira Carnival

During the Capira Carnival, the Calle Abajo tuna violated the agreement not to sing offensive songs. Despite the mayor's presence and a public promise, their supporters began to sing a song alluding to a tragedy, causing public outrage and calls for sanctions.

It is unknown whether the agreement was made verbally or if a document was signed, however, after breaking the agreement, many agree that the Calle Abajo tuna should receive a sanction. The tuna of Noemí González, Calle Abajo from Capira, ignored the pact not to sing songs that could put at risk the healthy coexistence and harmony during the Carnival festival. In a meeting, held at the end of January after the practice of the songs, the presidents of the tunas agreed to guarantee mutual respect and the good development of the activities, therefore, Calle Abajo agreed not to sing the song where reference was made to the accident. During the meeting of the tunas, on Carnival Sunday, the sympathizers of Calle Abajo started to sing "The killer is coming" and although the name of the person to whom the reference is made is not mentioned, for no one is a secret that Alejandro Torres, brother of Albanis Torres, queen of Calle Arriba, was involved in a traffic accident where three people died. The agreement was made in a meeting that counted with the participation of the mayor of Capira, Ket Yau Martínez, and subsequently, it was made public on the Instagram account of the mayor's office. "Out of order", "That deserves a sanction", "They play with other people's pain", were some of the reactions after what happened. The agreement was not respected!
