In Panama, three men have been charged with robbery and homicide. They are accused of their involvement in the murder of Artemio Hernández Ortega (72 years old), which occurred on September 9 in Changuinola, Bocas del Toro. During the multiple requests hearing, the judge declared the citizens' apprehension legal and applied the most severe precautionary measure: provisional detention for the six months granted to the Public Ministry to advance the investigation. According to the representative of the Homicide and Femicide Section of the Bocas del Toro Regional Prosecutor's Office, the evidence gathered "allowed the three accused to be formally linked to the investigation, as well as to accredit the criminal conduct, achieving that the requests for legalization of apprehension, formulation of the charge and the application of provisional detention for the legal term were admitted". It was through forensic dental examinations carried out by the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Imelcf) that the victim's skeletal remains were identified. The case file states that Mr. Hernández Ortega was attacked by several people and stabbed with a bladed weapon.
