Chepo Prepares for 'Live Holy Week' 2026

Chepo is preparing to experience one of the most significant cultural and religious expressions of East Panama with the celebration of Semana Santa en Vivo 2026. The district seeks to position this activity as an event that not only brings together parishioners from the region but also attracts visitors from other parts of the country who join this tradition every year. This year, the group of carriers from the Parish of San Cristóbal commemorates 15 years of uninterrupted tradition, a journey that has managed to establish this representation as a symbol of faith, community, and youth participation. More than a religious act, the activity has become a space where children and young people find training, discipline, and a sense of belonging within their own community. The celebration also highlights the cultural legacy of the district. Entire families have kept alive the musical tradition that accompanies the processions, including a flute with over 100 years of history, which still today sets the rhythm for the religious processions through the streets of Chepo. The organizers invite the entire country to visit the district during these dates and discover that East Panama also has its own tourist and cultural attractions. The event will take place from Thursday, April 2, to Sunday, April 5, 2026, with a program designed for the whole family.
