19-Year-Old Dies While Swimming in Chepo Rivers

A 19-year-old young man lost his life in the waters of two rivers in the Las Margaritas area of Chepo. He was enjoying the sunny afternoon and teaching a companion to swim. He was bathing in the waters where two imposing rivers, the Mamoní and the Chararé, meet, located in the Las Margaritas district of Chepo, taking advantage of the sunny afternoon, when death surprised him. Apparently, he was teaching a girl who was with him how to swim when he submerged and disappeared. The first reports indicate that it apparently involves a young man who, at around 3:00 PM this Wednesday, the 21st, was reported as missing after diving via a phone call from companions. Immediately, personnel from the Honorable Fire Corps of Chepo and units of the National Border Service (SENAFRONT) arrived at the scene to begin the search operation, which extended past 8:00 PM, when they located the body, for which they had to use drones with night vision. Subsequently, the lifeless body was removed from the warm waters, identified in the middle of the night very close to the mouth of the Chararé and Mamoní rivers, and placed on the gravel, awaiting the authorities of the Public Ministry, according to preliminary reports.
