The Minister of Security of Panama, Frank Abrego, received representatives of the Emberá community, led by General Chief Carlos Gil Chanapi, the President of the General Congress Agustín Berrugate, and the leader of the Piriatí community, Abdiel Omi Chamí, at the Ministry headquarters. During the meeting, the Emberá authorities presented a formal proposal that includes the donation of one hectare of land in Piriatí, one of the five communities belonging to the Collective Land of Alto Bayano.
General Chief Carlos Gil expressed the interest in closely collaborating with the National Border Service to strengthen security in the area. For his part, Minister Frank Abrego thanked the Emberá authorities for their trust and willingness to cede the land, which will be used for the installation of a strategic Control Post. This measure will expand the action radius in preventive matters and territorial control, aiming to build a barracks as an intermediate point between the five communities in the region.
The Collective Land of Alto Bayano is located in the district of Tortí, district of Chepo, province of Panama. The initiative to establish a new control post responds to the need to strengthen security in the area and enhance surveillance capabilities to ensure the protection of the community and prevent possible incidents.
In the words of Minister Abrego: "This donation of land by the Emberá authorities represents a significant step in our joint efforts to strengthen security in the region. The installation of this strategic control post will allow us to improve surveillance in the area and work more efficiently in preventing and controlling situations that may compromise the safety of the inhabitants."
