The National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (Idaan) yesterday approved the transfer of funds amounting to $12.8 million, earmarked for the maintenance of power plants, energy sources, and auxiliary emergency machinery. The majority of these resources will be allocated to the modernization of the Federico Guardia Conte power plant in Chilibre, with the acquisition of new equipment that will strengthen the plant's operation and reliability. “Power transformers, power circuit breakers, and motorized disconnectors at 115 kilovolts will be acquired as part of the second phase of this important plant's modernization program, which this year marks 50 years of continuous service to the country,” Idaan stated. The objective is to ensure the continuity of service and electrical safety of the plant with modern technology that allows for more stable operation. Additionally, the commission approved fund transfers of $4 million to the Metro de Panamá, $4.8 million to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, $2.0 million to the Ministry of Foreign Relations, and an additional credit of $1.4 million to the Aquatic Resources Authority of Panama.
