The province of Herrera declares itself prepared for the celebration of Carnival, with a wide deployment of security, health, and environmental control to ensure safe festivities for both residents and visitors. More than 400 units from security forces will be strategically distributed at all points where carnival activities take place in the province. This operation aims to maintain public order, prevent incidents, and provide an immediate response to any eventuality during the celebration days.
In the health sector, the regional director of health for Herrera, Hilario Correa, reported that ambulances will be deployed in all districts, as well as health centers open in Monagrillo, Las Minas, and Pesé, and coverage posts in strategic areas. Likewise, the hospitals Gustavo Nelson Collado, Cecilio Castillo, and Sergio Núñez Núñez will remain open 24 hours a day, with reinforced medical and nursing staff to attend to any emergency that may arise during the festivities.
In the environmental sphere, inspections of the water sources to be used in the traditional "mojaderas" (water dousing events) have already begun. Water samples were analyzed in the water quality laboratory, and the results determine that the resource meets acceptable parameters for recreational use, both for participants in the mojaderas and for visitors to beaches.
The National Civil Protection System reiterated recommendations to the public regarding visits to beaches and swimming areas, emphasizing the responsible consumption of alcohol, constant supervision of minors, and compliance with safety norms.
In Chitré, the carnival officially kicks off on Friday night with the traditional "Pechugón," when the queens of "Calle Arriba," Rubcel Quintero, and "Calle Abajo," Silenys Solís, make their first appearance in Unión Park. At noon, the mojaderas begin, marking the start of a celebration that will extend until Tuesday. Both queens, already crowned, will star in their first outing in this massive event.
The Chitré municipality announced special measures for the participation of minors: all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and only minors over 7 years of age will be allowed to participate. Additionally, strict security will be implemented at each access point to the celebration area.
The authorities reiterated the call to enjoy the carnival responsibly, prioritizing safety, health, and good coexistence, so that these festivities take place in an atmosphere of joy and protection for all.
