10-Year-Old Boy Shot in the Head During Christmas Party

In the early hours of December 25, what was supposed to be a night of celebration ended in anguish on the outskirts of the city of Colón, when a 10-year-old boy was shot in the head during a Christmas party.

The case was reported just after 12:00 a.m., when the child was urgently admitted to the Policlínica Don Laurencio Jaén Ocaña, located in the Sabanitas district. The minor had a wound caused by a firearm, which immediately set off alarms for the medical staff and authorities.

According to initial reports, the boy lives in the San Isidro community, in the Puerto Pilón district. Preliminary investigations point to the fact that, amidst the euphoria of Christmas, several individuals took out firearms and began shooting into the air—a dangerous practice that once again has left serious consequences. One of those shots hit the minor, who was quickly assisted by family and neighbors before being transported to the medical center, where he received timely care.

The National Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office are keeping their investigations open to find those responsible for this violent act that ruined Christmas and put an innocent life at risk.
