Over 300 children from the Colón district received school backpacks with supplies, as part of a support event at the start of the school year. The distribution took place at educational centers such as Villa Alondra, Villa Santa Cruz, and in the center of the city of Colón, directly benefiting students from different sectors. The activity was organized by the Colón Municipality, in conjunction with the Cobre Panamá company, as part of a social management program focused on supporting education and the development of children. In addition to contributing to students, this initiative seeks to alleviate the financial burden on families and reinforce school supplies for low-resource youth. These types of actions add to other contributions the company has developed in the Colón province, including generating job opportunities for the people of Colón. During the event, the mayor of Colón, Diógenes Galván, took the opportunity to request more employment opportunities for residents in the mining sector. Likewise, citizens have expressed the need for a permanent company office in the province, which would allow them to access information and submit their resumes to apply for job positions, especially in the event of a possible reactivation of the sector.
