A 19-year-old man in Colón attacked his former mother-in-law and her acquaintance with a sharp weapon. According to investigators, the motive for the crime was jealousy and revenge after a breakup. The aggressor was detained by the police and charged with attempted murder.

In the Guarantees Court, he was notified that he faces charges of attempted femicide, attempted homicide, and violation of domicile. The case is handled by the Specialized Homicide and Femicide Section of the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Colón and Guna Yala, which will continue the investigation of this violent act. Among the victims are his former mother-in-law and a man who was also present. Everything happened in the early hours of March 21, 2026, when, according to investigations, the man acted out of jealousy, revenge, and prior threats after the relationship ended. A 19-year-old young man could not bear being left and ended up attacking his ex-partner's family in Colón. The incident occurred in the Nueva Italia community, in the Nueva Providencia district, in the Transisthmus area, where the young man went to a residence and, with a sharp weapon, attacked two people. The attack left both injured and put their lives at serious risk. After the incident, the aggressor was reported and subsequently captured by the National Police, remaining at the disposal of the judicial authorities. During the hearing, the prosecutor's office managed to legalize the apprehension and formulate the charges.
