The regional directorate of the Ministry of Environment of Colón carried out a cleanup at Majagual Beach, located in the district of Chagres, in the Lower Coast of the province of Colón. It was detailed that as a result of this activity, approximately 130 pounds of waste were collected. More than 30 volunteers participated in the event, including children and adolescents from the 'Los Comienzos de la Iglesia de la Medalla Milagrosa' summer course, as well as residents of the district and other key actors in environmental management. Octavio Ortiz, an environmental biologist from MiAmbiente, indicated that conducting beach cleanups with children is fundamental to foster environmental awareness from an early age, as it allows teaching the impact of waste on marine ecosystems and promoting collective responsibility. February is the month of wetlands, and as part of this commemoration, MiAmbiente is carrying out various activities in the province of Colón. These activities are being executed with the aim of generating awareness in communities about the importance of safeguarding these valuable marine-coastal ecosystems.
