Citing lack of payment to community boards by the Colón City Hall, some representatives from corregimientos in the Colón district took over the main entrance to the Municipal Treasury on Tuesday as a protest measure. William Sánchez, representative of the Nueva Providencia corregimiento and one of the protesters in this peaceful demonstration, stated that they have not been deposited to their boards since 2024, 2025, and what has gone of this year. Meanwhile, Eleuterio Pérez, representative of Limón, pointed out that they are protesting to demand what is theirs by law. At the time of writing this information, municipal authorities had not issued a statement regarding this demonstration at the Municipal Treasury. The council members placed themselves at the main entrance with posters as a form of protest. This Tuesday, the solemn session was moved to the offices of the Municipal Treasury, on Calle 2, between Central and Amador Guerrero avenues, where it is expected to address the issue.
