The University of Panama (UTP) and the Puerto Barú project held a technical meeting in David to analyze the progress in the evaluation of water supply solutions and water quality in the Chiriquí district.
This initiative is part of the existing cooperation agreement between Puerto Barú and UTP, and also involves the work of state entities such as the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), the Ministry of Health (MINSA), and the Ministry of the Environment (MiAmbiente).
The research is being carried out in strict compliance with the requirements for a Category III Environmental Impact Study, previously approved by national authorities, with the aim of strengthening access to water resources in neighboring communities through sustainable infrastructure.
During the meeting, the team from the Hydraulic and Hydro-Technical Research Center (CIHH) of UTP, led by Dr. José Fábrega along with Dr. Reinhardt Pinzón and Dr. Miguel Salceda, detailed the progress of the applied methodology.
The exhibition included a comparative analysis of the various alternatives identified for water supply, a fundamental phase for understanding the current state of water resources in the region and determining the technical feasibility of the proposed water solutions for the David area.
