Missing fisherman in Chiriquí province

Panama. Mr. Rigoberto Herrera Marin has been missing since last Saturday, December 20, in the Brisas del Mar community, Pedregal district, in David (Chiriquí), from where he went fishing alone. José Ángel De León González, an acquaintance of Herrera, stated that he lent him his boat for him to go to sea. However, the next day, when De León went to pick it up because the fishing was to be shared, and even though he waited until 10:00 a.m., he did not show up. Seeing that hours passed and there was no news from the fisherman, De León decided to search for him by land, and it was then that he spotted the vessel anchored approximately one mile from the shore, in the Herbazales community, in the Limones district. Upon arriving at the boat, De León did not find Herrera on board, but he did find all his fishing gear, food, and the engine, for which reason he reported his disappearance to the authorities. Therefore, the Chiriquí Regional Prosecutor's Office's Barú subregional agency has initiated an investigation for the crime against freedom in the form of a missing person. The Prosecutor's Office asks any person who has information about Herrera Marin's whereabouts to please contact them confidentially at the telephone numbers 728-1283 / 728-1284.
