A tragic incident occurred in Panama, resulting in the death of a Mexican citizen. The event took place in the city of David, Chiriquí province. In the early morning hours of December 23, 2025, Mexican national Francis Fernández (42) and his wife had arranged a sexual encounter with a woman they met through a dating app. When the couple opened their door, three masked men with firearms entered, attempting to rob them. Francis, who had a permit for his 9mm pistol, returned fire, leading to a shootout. Francis was killed, and his wife was shot in the left collarbone. The other two assailants fled the scene. Paramedics arrived and transported Mrs. Fernández and one of the criminals, who was found by police with four gunshot wounds, to the Regional Hospital of David. Both are in stable condition. Authorities are currently searching for the alleged sex worker and the two other fugitives.
